  • Ben Trogdon
    Hospital Administrator

    Ben (and wife Robin Shroyer) moved to Nipomo in 1979 to start Pacific Sun Growers, a wholesale greenhouse business. He is a licensed contractor and helped build Mesa Veterinary Hospital, Central Coast Pet ER, and Nipomo Dog and Cat Hospital. He was formerly an Animal Health Technician and spent several years working in the veterinary field while in college. In 2008 he opened NDCH with Drs. Shroyer and Wagner and spend several years managing the hospital. Now he primarily operates as financial officer and handles clinic maintenance. He is an accomplished ceramicist who enjoys spending his time with his wife and their 6 dogs, hiking, traveling to Baja California, paddle boarding and gardening.

  • Jesslyn
    Hospital Manager/Registered Veterinary Technician

    Jesslyn was born and raised in Nipomo. While in college, she began working at veterinary hospitals to gain experience in the field. Her first veterinary job was cleaning kennels at the UC Davis Vet Med Teaching Hospital. In 2007, she graduated from Cal Poly Pomona with a BS in Animal Science. She continued working as a technician at emergency, referral and day practices for several years in Southern California. She returned to Nipomo to raise her family and joined the NDCH team in 2012. Jesslyn obtained her Registered Veterinary Technician (RVT) license in 2015 and in 2017 began taking over management duties. Her family includes 3 dogs, 2 cats and a horse that are all rescues. She enjoys the outdoors including her horse, hiking and camping, photography, and gardening.

  • Rebecca
    Registered Veterinary Technician (Nursing Supervisor)

    Rebecca joined Nipomo Dog and Cat in 2016. 'Reba' is a Registered Veterinary Technician who has been in the veterinary field for over 20 years. At a young age her dream was to work with animals. She attended an Animal Technology Program after high school and began her career as a technician. In 2015 she officially obtained her RVT license. Over the years she has worked in general practice, as well as emergency and exotic animal hospitals. She feels very lucky to be able to intertwine her love of animals with work. She treats all our patients as if they were her own pets. She spends most of her off time trying to keep up with her two daughters. She enjoys time with her family, exploring the Central Coast and attending local music festivals. Rebecca owns a menagerie of little critters that includes dogs, cats, ferrets, sugar gliders and turtles.

  • Karen
    Registered Veterinary Technician (Dental Technician)

    Karen is a Registered Veterinary Technician who has been working in the veterinary field for the past 30 years. She graduated from Western Career College and passed her state board exam in 1991. Originally from Northern California, Karen made her way to the Central Coast 7 years ago and fell in love. She joined the NDCH team in 2016 and we can't imagine working without her. Her passion for dentistry is infectious and invaluable. Even after 30 years in the profession, she's never lost her love and compassion for the special animals in her care. In her spare time, Karen loves hiking, walking on the beach and spending time with her husband and their little Chihuahua mix, Gloria. Karen also volunteers for the Children's Ministries at New Life church in Pismo.

  • Erin
    Registered Veterinary Technician (Specialty Surgery Technician)

    Erin also joined the Nipomo Dog and Cat team in 2016. She is a Registered Veterinary Technician who has worked in the veterinary field for over 20 years, as a technician and a manager. She moved to the Central Coast 13 years ago to attend Cal Poly. After finishing her course work she decided to make the Central Coast her home. Erin obtained her RVT license in 2009 and has dedicated herself to the veterinary field. Her knowledge and experience, especially in emergency medicine, is a huge asset to our team. Her family includes 3 cats and a horse. In her free time she enjoys horseback riding, traveling, reading, gardening and spending time with her husband and friends.

    Customer Service Representative

    Joni is proud to be a part of Nipomo Dog and Cat Hospital. She joined us in 2016, bringing with her 14 years of experience in the veterinary field. A Central Coast native, Joni spend 7 years on the East Coast managing a clinic before she came to her senses and moved home. We are so lucky she did. Having worked in many positions over the years, Joni enjoys the customer service aspect the most. Interacting with clients and their pets on a daily basis is truly her favorite part of the job. Joni lives with her two dogs, Chuck and Billy. Outside the office, Joni enjoys spending time hiking, reading and getting to Disneyland anytime she can.

    Customer Service Representative

    Jodi has been a part of the NDCH team since the day our doors opened. After receiving her Master’s Degree in Developmental Psychology, Jodi moved with her husband to the Central Coast and began her work in the veterinary field as a receptionist with Nipomo Dog and Cat. Her upbeat attitude makes her a joy to work with. Jodi is also a volunteer at Animal Services and fosters kittens. She also spends a great deal of time co-managing the Animals in Need / Petco cat adoption project. When not working, Jodi can usually be found running. She has completed several ultra-marathons and is working her way up to a 100-miler!

  • Shawna
    Customer Service Representative

    In 2012, Shawna visited NDCH for the first time as a client and was so impressed by the experience, she decided she should work here. We agreed! She left her career in the luxury jewelry industry to follow her passion – animals! Her strong background in customer service and her great attitude allowed her to quickly become part of the NDCH family. Shawna's favorite things are the beach, her Dad’s apple pie, visiting the Czech Republic, and her dogs Ginger and Georgia Clooney.

  • Azurdee
    Customer Service Representative

    Azurdee has always had a love for animals. She grew up wanting to be a veterinarian. Throughout high school she volunteered at a local veterinary office to learn more about the job. After high school, she attended CSU Fresno with a major in Animal Science. When she moved back home to Santa Maria, she worked for the same veterinarian as a technician and receptionist for over 5 years until the practice closed. In 2016, she joined the NDCH team. She continues to work in the industry because of her love for helping animals and their owners. On her free time she likes spending time with her pets - 3 dogs, a cat and a turtle and traveling and attending concerts.

  • Micci
    Customer Service Representative

    Micci began working in the veterinary field right after graduating from high school. She worked previously with Drs. Wagner and Shroyer for almost 5 years. After taking some time off to be with her children, Micci jumped back into the field with the NDCH team. Micci is an energetic, motivated, positive person. Her experience and knowledge provide a wonderful example to the entire NDCH staff. When not working, Micci is trying to keep up with her 4 children, taking walks with her husband and snuggling on the couch with her 2 dogs; one a Saint Bernard rescue, the other a Dachshund mix.

    Pharmacy Technician

    We've been lucky to have Libby on our team since Day One. With a degree from Cal Poly in Animal Science, she brings to us a great deal of experience (and passion) as a Zoo Keeper and Wildlife Rehabilitator. We greatly enjoy her energetic personality, giving heart, sense of humor and attention to detail. When not working at NDCH, Libby is usually painting pet portraits and volunteering for the Animals in Need Fund (AINF). Libby is on the Board of Directors for AINF, maintains the AINF Facebook page and co-directs the AINF/Petco cat adoption project.

  • Yoni
    Pharmacy Technician/Veterinary Assistant

    Yoni is another Central Coast native. While attending the Gemological Institute of America in Carlsbad, Ca, she began volunteering with an animal rescue group. Her experiences in rescue work developed into a desire to help animals in need full-time. She moved back to the Central Coast in 2012 and immediately began working in a small animal practice. In 2015 she joined Nipomo Dog and Cat. When not at work, Yoni enjoys being outdoors (hiking, camping, going to the beach) with her 2 dogs. She also enjoys reading, sharing good food with good people, and creating jewelry using crystals and gemstones. Recently, Yoni began living the 'tiny life' and has been restoring a travel trailer one piece at a time with her own hands.

    Veterinary Assistant/Pharmacy Technician

    Elizabeth is a Central Coast native and Cal Poly graduate with a degree in Animal Science. In 2014, she became part of the Nipomo Dog and Cat team. While not exactly sure of the context, Elizabeth is sure she'll pursue a career Veterinary Medicine somehow. In the meantime, her kind heart, quick wit and even temper are a wonderful asset to our team. In her free time, she enjoys spending time with her cats Max and Biscuits and her dog, Duck. She also enjoys traveling, camping, photography, going to the movies and crocheting.

    Veterinary Assistant

    A Southern California native, Susan was originally a geologist. After moving to Colorado with her family, she discovered the field of veterinary technology and decided to attend tech school. Eventually, Susan and her family moved back to California (this time the Central Coast) and Susan found us. Joining our team in 2017, Susan brings a tremendous amount of knowledge and experience. She is a wonderful addition to our nursing team. When not working at NDCH, Susan keeps busy with her husband and their two young children. Susan enjoys cooking, running and of course, rocks!

  • Marilyn
    Veterinary Assistant

    Marilyn graduated from Cal Poly San Luis Obispo in 2007 with a BS in Animal Science. She has been working in small animal practice since she was 14, and loves getting to help your pets live a happier, healthier life. She loves all animals and working as a Veterinary Technician is an especially fulfilling adventure for her. No two days are ever the same! At home she is a fire wife and mother to 2 boys, 2 dogs and 2 cats. She's so glad to be back on the Central Coast and 'feels blessed to work with such a compassionate, proactive and dedicated team at NDCH.'  When not at work, Marilyn can be found at any number of her boys' activities;  baseball, soccer, boy scouts, jiu jitsu to name a few.  She also enjoys cooking and camping with her family.

  • Robert
    Kennel Technician

    Another Central Coast native, Robert began working in the veterinary field immediately after high school.  He joined the Nipomo Dog and Cat team in 2016 as a Kennel Technician and has worked his way up to assisting our technicians with animal restraint and treatments.  You may occasionally see his face during technician appointments as he continues his training in the field.  Robert's future plans include attending a full-time RVT program in Yuba starting fall of 2018.  His long-term goal is to earn his RVT license!  Robert is rarely separated from his Rottweiler, Maya, and when he's not at work he enjoys spending time with friends, attending concerts and cooking.

    Reception/Kennel Assistant

    New to the veterinary field, Annie recently joined the Nipomo Dog & Cat family in late 2017.  As a kennel assistant and receptionist, her outgoing personality gives her the ability to convey warmth and knowledge to our clients and patients.  She feels it is a privilege to assist the technicians and doctors at NDCH and help animals live long happy lives.  She enjoys continuing her education in the veterinary field and the daily challenges this work brings!  Outside of work, Annie enjoys spending time with her family, friends and watching movies.

  • Dawnde
    AINF Administrative Director/Veterinary Technician

    Dawnde joined our team in 2012. We appreciate her warm and upbeat demeanor. Her work experience includes 5 years in veterinary critical care nursing and 3 years in private practice. In her free time, she teaches yoga, loves to garden, cook delicious vegetarian dishes, knitting and enjoys bad horror movies. She’s compiled her pet family with animals from the Caribbean, Alabama, and beyond. Dawnde is currently working full-time as the Administrative Director for the Animals in Need Fund. We are lucky to have someone so familiar with veterinary medicine in this position!
