Our Support Staff

Makayla

Customer Service Representative

Makayla joined Nipomo’s team in December of 2022. Previously, she spent a year as a receptionist at a local pet emergency clinic, which led her to changing careers from licensed manicurist to pet care. In her free time, she enjoys spending time with her family, exploring outdoors and hanging out with her four Pitbulls!

Melissa

Customer Service Representative

Melissa joined the Nipomo team in October of 2022. She has a passion for caring for animals and has one dog of her own. In her free time she enjoys cosmetology and spending time with her daughter!

Libby

Room Nurse

We’ve been lucky to have Libby on our team since Day One. With a degree from Cal Poly in Animal Science, she brings to us a great deal of experience (and passion) as a Zoo Keeper and Wildlife Rehabilitator. We greatly enjoy her energetic personality, giving heart, sense of humor and attention to detail. When not working at NDCH, Libby is usually painting pet portraits and volunteering for the Animals in Need Fund (AINF). Libby is on the Board of Directors for AINF, maintains the AINF social media and webpage, and co-directs the AINF/Petco cat adoption project.

Susan

Veterinary Technician

A Southern California native, Susan was originally a geologist. After moving to Colorado with her family, she discovered the field of veterinary technology and decided to attend tech school. Eventually, Susan and her family moved back to California (this time the Central Coast) and Susan found us. Joining our team in 2017, Susan brings a tremendous amount of knowledge and experience. She is a wonderful addition to our nursing team. When not working at NDCH, Susan keeps busy with her husband and their two young children. Susan enjoys cooking, running and of course, rocks!

Nick

Treatment Co-Lead

Nick joined the Nipomo Dog & Cat team in 2019, bringing with him 8+ years of experience in the veterinary field.  To say Nick loves his job is an understatement.  To say we are fortunate to have him is an understatement as well!  A gentle giant, Nick’s calm, easy-going demeanor is appreciated by both our patients and his co-workers.  A Central Coast resident for over 20 years, Nick shares his home with his wife, Stephanie, their two children and their pets: Virgil the dog, Gracie the cat and three lovable rats!  Outside of work, Nick enjoys spending time with his family, listening to music and attending reggae concerts.

Destiny

Technician Assistant

Destiny joined the team in March of 2023. She is currently attending Allan Hancock College where she’s completing prerequisites to become a Registered Veterinary Technician. At 17 she began as a kennel assistant, working her way up to various roles like Equine ICU team and running vaccine clinics up and down the central coast. In her free time, Destiny is typically with her two children on their farm, caring for their many animals and going on walks and bike rides! She has an American Staffy named Paisley Jade along with 4 Pitbulls, two dachshunds and a Turkish Boz. On her farm, she cares for 300 chickens, 15 ducks, 12 goats, 8 turkeys, a bunny, two tortoises and two toads.
